Long prison term for drunk driving repeat offender

A Wood County has been sentenced to a lengthy term in prison after pleading guilty to his charge of driving while intoxicated.

Robert Floyd Darby of Winnsboro was found to be a habitual offender due to a half dozen previous felony convictions including one of armed robbery.

Darby had to be bench warranted from state prison to appear at Wednesday’s hearing in the 196th District Court. Under a plea bargain arrangement Darby was sentenced to 25 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division. He was indicted in February on one count of driving while intoxicated with two or more previous convictions
