Longtime attorney, Commerce resident, dies at 90

Commerce – James Faires, who served as the City of Commerce Attorney for more than 40 years, died yesterday at age of 90.

A lifetime resident of Commerce, Faires graduated from East Texas State Teachers College Training School in 1938 and earned a bachelor's degree from East Texas Teachers College in 1942. He would later teach business law at East Texas State.

Faires was also a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving his country during World War II.

Funeral services are pending.
