Lots left in housing project in Commerce

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – The City of Commerce has a few lots left in a housing project meant to help people get into a brand new home of their own. The Enlow Project is an ongoing housing development supported by grant money that allows the City of Commerce to help the buyer, according to City Manager Bill Shipp.

SHIPP: We receive grant money to develop the infrastructure there; and we also receive grant money for down payment assistance.

The City of Commerce owns several more lots in the project, which are given to the housing developer once a buyer has been found. The developer passes those savings onto the purchaser of the new house. Up to $5,000 in down payment assistance is also available through the city.

SHIPP: It gives a first time home owner an affordable way of getting into a house, is what it boils down to.

Anyone interested in the project should contact Jeannie Putnam at Commerce City hall at 903.886.1126.
