Low income residents eligible for housing grant

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – Beginning Friday, April 23, qualified Commerce residents can apply for funding to go toward the rehabilitation and/or reconstruction of single-family homes.

The funds come from an Owner Occupied Housing Assistance Program grant recently awarded to the city. A total of five low income homeowners' applications will be accepted.

To be eligible you must reside in the city, own the home you are living in, be low income, live in a substandard home, be current on their property taxes and be willing to relocate during construction.

The deadline to submit applications is May 10 at City Hall.

More information on the program is available at 903-784-6439.
