Maid Rite diner to come to Commerce?

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – Iowa-based restaurant chain Maid-Rite Corporation, who recently expressed interest in opening a store in Greenville, may now do so in Commerce.

Executive Vice-President Tania Burt tells the Greenville Herald-Banner the company hopes to obtain property in Commerce owned by Mike Oglesby.

The property, located at the intersection of Monroe and Hunt Streets, is a brand new building composed of both commercial and residential space. The property is expected to come online sometime next month.

In a recent interview with KETR, Oglesby hoped to obtain a sandwich/salad type business in one of three areas designated for potential businesses. He's expecting heavy traffic to any business, as its located right across the street from Prairie Crossing on the A&M-Commerce campus.

The total investment from the company would be about $250,000, with $50,000 liquid capital.

Maid-Rite, founded in 1926, operates more than 80 franchise restaurants in nine states. The company's restaurant is patterned after classic diners.
