Major cocaine bust in Hunt County

By Brad Kellar

Hunt County – A major drug bust in Hunt County nets nearly a dozen kilos of cocaine. Two men from Illinois were arrested Friday night for transporting the drugs.

A trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety pulled over the vehicle on eastbound Interstate 30 near Cumby for speeding.

The two men appeared nervous and reportedly gave deceptive answers regarding their criminal histories. Upon consent to search the vehicle, 10.3 kilos of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $270,000, were discovered in a secret compartment behind the passenger side airbag.

Arrested were 59-year-old Ronald Lomas and 54-year-old Delaney Hope, both of Chicago. The men were reported to have made the trip from Chicago to Dallas and were headed back home when they were pulled over.
