Make it harder for thieves!

By Bill Oliver

Commerce, TX –

An above average amount of thefts have been reported to University Police at Texas A&M University-Commerce. Officers say the "crimes of opportunity" can be reduced by keeping track of your valuables.

UPD say purses, laptop computers, book bags, wallets, cell phones, and other items of value are being left unattended in classrooms, on public benches, in cafeterias, the library, and other public places. Officers say items are readily available to be stolen by any passerby just because they lay unguarded.

UPD recommends that you take just a few seconds to verify that all valuable property is accounted for before leaving an area. And if you find unattended property call UPD immediately, and stay with the property until an officer arrives or otherwise instructed.
