A Greenville man arrested at a Commerce High School basketball game on a local warrant faces additional charges. On Friday, December 14, 2012 just before 8:30 p.m. a Greenville man was being questioned on an unrelated offense when officers were advised that he had a local Commerce Police Department misdemeanor warrant.

The man was arrested on the warrant and was transported to the Commerce Police Department.

At the Commerce Police Department jail, officers found that the man had approximately 14 grams of a white substance believed to be cocaine individually packaged and concealed in his jacket.  Along with the cocaine, officers also recovered a scale.

Because at the time of his arrest, the man was at the high school, which is considered a drug free zone, he faces a second degree felony charge of possession of a controlled substance of more than 4 grams but less than 28 grams in a drug free zone.  He also faces a second degree felony charge of possession of a controlled substance of more than 4 grams but less than 28 grams in a correctional facility.

The man has been booked in at the Commerce Police Department awaiting arraignment on the local warrant.  He will then be transported to the Hunt County Jail for the arraignment on the additional charges.
