Man convicted in Plano murder to be executed

By Scott Harvey

Huntsville – A man convicted in the deaths of two Plano newlyweds is scheduled to be executed tonight.

In August 2007, Michael Sigala is said to have shot the husband in the head and then tortured and raped the wife before shooting her twice in the head.

Sigala was at the time on probation for robbery and allowed to leave a substance abuse center for a day to look for work.

Sigala was arrested a couple of months later when a camera taken from the newlywed's apartment turned up in an Arlington pawn shop. Investigators then found the couple's wedding rings, which had been pawned in Dallas.
