Man held for game room robbery

By Kevin Jefferies

Hunt County – A Kaufman County man is in custody charged with aggravated robbery in connection with a Sunday night hold-up of a Hunt County game room. 47 year old James Russell Moore of Scurry is being held on $25,000 bond for the robbery of the Tropical Oasis game room on Highway 34 South.

The robbery was reported around 9:30 Sunday when a clerk told police a man wearing dark clothes and something dark on his face entered the business, waved a pistol around, and demanded money.

A Hunt County Sheriff's Deputy spotted a van similar to the one described by victims as leaving the scene. Upon search of the vehicle, the deputy found a large sum of cash, a fake gun, black spray paint, and a knit mask.

As Moore was being booked, he told the deputy the gun was his child's and had been in the van for some time. When he was searched, however, the deputy found a receipt showing all the items had been purchased earlier that day.
