Man pleads guilty in 28-year-old murder case

By Scott Harvey

Lamar County – A man has pleaded guilty to his involvement in the death of a Lamar County resident who was killed 28 years ago.

Lewis Tucker entered the guilty plea Monday, the very day a jury was to be selected in the case against him and Kenneth Bills. The two men, along with Travis Mitchell have each been arrested for their involvement in the brutal death of Jean Wagnon, found murdered at Sun Valley east of Paris in 1981. Tucker was given 30 years in prison in exchange for testimony against the other two defendants.

It was not immediately known if the original trial date for Bills would still take place on June 8, as originally planned. Mitchell is scheduled to be tried at a later date.
