Sulphur Springs – Damian Jolly of Cooper has been sentenced to the maximum of 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine for his role in the severe beating of Marcus Vaughn of Sulphur Springs. Jolly pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Jolly is the eighth man convicted for beating of Vaughn. In November of 2004, Vaughn was lured to a remote location and severely beaten. Injuries to the head put Vaughn into a coma after the beating, and have left him with lifelong injuries.
The Hopkins County jury deliberated for less than an hour before delivering the sentence.
