Man sentenced for shooting DPS Trooper

By Scott Harvey

Quitman – A Wood County man, who shot a DPS trooper in the face earlier this year, has been sentenced to prison.

Timothy Charles Parmer was given 20 years behind bars this week, for shooting Trooper Larry Vaughn in March.

The 45-year-old Parmer was reportedly wanted on an aggravated assault charge when Trooper Vaughn, along with another office, approached Parmer's home. That's when Vaughn was fired upon.

He has since recovered from his injuries, but was listed in critical condition immediately following the incident.

Parmer's criminal history includes numerous assault charges and running from police.
