In Hunt County, three incumbent public officials won their GOP primary contests.

Phillip Martin won re-election Tuesday to the office of Hunt County Commissioner for Precinct 3, with a victory in the Republican Party primary election.

Two current Hunt County Constables also won new terms during Tuesday’s primary.

Martin was opposed in the GOP primary by Wayne Middleton and Larry Middlebrooks.

Martin claimed 2,318 votes (59.48 percent) to Middlebrooks’ 1,034 votes (26.53 percent) and Middleton’s 545 votes (13.99 percent). Martin won re-election to the post, as he faces no opposition in November.

Incumbent Constable for Precinct 3 Don Morrison defeated challenger Nathan Ehrhart Tuesday. Morrison received 615 votes (62.25 percent) to Ehrhart’s 373 votes (37.75 percent).

Incumbent Constable for Precinct 4 Kent E. Layton won against Clint Landrith in the primary. Layton claimed 1,615 votes (55.33 percent) to Landrith’s 1,304 votes (44.67 percent).

Morrison and Layton were re-elected as a result of Tuesday’s votes, as neither faces opposition in November.

Wayne “Doc” Pierce was the only Hunt County candidate to file as a Democrat, as he seeks re-election to the office of Constable, Precinct 2. Charles W. Adams filed for the Republican nomination for the position. Both candidates were unopposed on their respective primary ballots and will face each other in November.
