COMMERCE – Quay Throgmorton the Mayor of Commerce and his wife Page have filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy, which could end the City of Commerce’s lawsuit against the couple.
The lawsuit was brought against the Throgmortons back in January. The lawsuit states that the Throgmortons failed to repay the City nearly $50,000 for improvements to their property in 2005.
The Throgmortons claim they have paid the City in full and filed a counterclaim against the City back in June for fraud and slander.
Throgmorton will continue to serve as Mayor of Commerce, but does not plan on running for reelection in 2012.
