Meal-A-Day will continue; Cooper VFD in need

In Cooper, the Meal-A-Day program will continue - but local officials are worried about the volunteer fire department's staffing.

The Delta County Commissioners Court announced that Meal-A-Day program both for congregate meal service and home-delivered meals will continue. The program will be delivering meals from the Mount Vernon facility to the Delta County Civic Center meeting room each weekday for lunch. The program had been in doubt due to recent financial debts.

In other Delta County news, the City of Cooper is seeking volunteer firefighters. During the Cooper City Council meeting Monday night, Cooper Volunteer Fire Department Lieutenant Charles Ruzicka said they could use at least six more fire fighters. Anyone who lives in Delta County can volunteer.
