Invahoe – A final meeting aimed at generating public support for a local volunteer fire department received very little over the weekend.
As a result, the Ivanhoe Volunteer Fire Department in Fannin County will remain closed.
Officials were forced to shut down the operation last month, citing a lack of the necessary equipment and funding. Since then, emergency services for the area have come from Ravenna, Bonham and Telephone firefighters.
A meeting with the chief's association is scheduled for Monday, to discuss which fire districts will permanently take over the area.
