Memories: Texas HEAT this week!

Jul 30, 2012

Northeast Texans are catching another glimpse this week of what became routine last year, triple digit streaks.

The National Weather Service is forecasting hot temperatures with highs above 101 this week, which has prompted a heat advisory for most of Northeast Texas.

With clear skies and scarce wind, this could pose a threat to us, especially small children, pets, and the elderly. Take extra precaution this week while outdoors. Officials also remind you to check the backseat. Multiple heat-related deaths have already been reported this year due to children being left in a hot car.

Last year, 206 heat-related deaths occurred in the U.S., most of which occurred at the victims' homes. If your air conditioning breaks or if you don't have an A/C unit, you're strongly encouraged to seek assistance.
