Men charged with dog fighting

Greenville Police Dept.

Two men have been charged with engaging in dog fights in Greenville. The Greenville Police Department reported Wednesday that warrants had been issued for Caunte Howard, 17, and Adrian Obrian Jackson, 27, on charges of dog fighting in the 3700 block of Polk Street.

Jackson was taken into custody Tuesday night and remained in custody at the Hunt County Jail as of Wednesday morning. Howard was already in custody at the jail, indicted earlier this year on an unrelated charge of aggravated robbery. The statement issued by the police department indicated that additional warrants were expected to be issued as the criminal investigation continues.

Howard was one of three people who were indicted in March by the Hunt County grand jury on charges of aggravated robbery. The three were alleged in the indictments to have acted together to assault a male victim by striking him with a stick and/or a glass bottle while in the course of committing a theft on July 31, 2012. All three individuals were reported arrested on Aug. 2, 2012.
