Men’s golf finishes second in Lions Classic

Thanks to a terrific second-day performance, Texas A&M University-Commerce's men's golf team blazed through the 2015 Lions Classic. The Lions finished second overall at the 6,783 yard, par-70 Hardscrabble Club in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Marcus Sanna had a huge day with a 66 second-day score, the lowest score of the day. He finished 6th overall with a two-day score of 146. Hagan Wood also had a great tourney, finishing tied for 9th overall with a score of 148. Kason Childress (tied 13th, 151) and Cade Grimm (tied 17th, 153) also finished in the top 20, and Chris Leasor compiled a two-day score of 156, good enough for a tie for 27th overall. Sanna finished the tourney with two eagles and five birdies. Wood had five birdies, and Childress also had an eagle. Grimm and Leasor each had four birdies.

Cameron won the 2015 Lions Classic with an incredible 573, 20 shots ahead of second place A&M-Commerce, who finished with a 593. In third was Rogers State, who finished with a 595. East Central, Newman, Cameron's B team, Arkansas-Fort Smith and Northwestern Oklahoma State also competed in the invite and are listed in the order they finished.

The Lions men's golf team's next appearance is scheduled for April 6 & 7 at the DBU Patriot Classic, hosted by Dallas Baptist University at Hackberry Creek Country Club in Irving, Texas.
