Millions approved for local highway project

By Brad Kellar

Hunt County – Almost $30 million in financing has been approved for a major highway improvement project in Hunt County.

The Texas Transportation Commission announced 10 projects across the state Thursday to be funded by the Texas Department of Transportation's (TxDOT's) pass-through finance program. Included on the list is $29.83 million for improvements to a stretch of U.S. Highway 69, which had been proposed for upgrades and widening between Business Highway 69D in Greenville to Farm-To-Market Road 513 in Lone Oak.

It is one of several projects sponsored by the Sulphur River Regional Mobility Authority (SURRMA).

Several other area projects, however, were not included on the list.
