Millions of gallons lost in Paris water main break

By Scott Harvey

Paris – Estimates show a water main leak in Paris last week resulted in the loss of approximately 2.5 million gallons of water.

The break of a 20 inch main near the Paris Animal Shelter on Clement Road, eroded dirt under the parking lot of the shelter rendering it inoperable. The break also caused low water pressure in the northeast section of the City.

Permanent repairs will be made Monday after the necessary parts arrive. A damage estimate will not be available until bids are received from contractors on the parking lot repair. A leak from a 24 inch water main a short distance from the other leak will also be repaired.
