GREENVILLE - A missing mentally disabled man from North Hopkins has been located, about half a day after his disappearance.

A Hopkins County deputy tells KETR that Rodney Porter was found Tuesday morning, although he did not know where. KLTV-TV reports that Porter was located at Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville.

Authorities had earlier stated that family members said Porter asked a motorist to give him a ride to Greenville, but was taken only as far as Cumby.

Porter had first gone missing at around 4:30 p.m. Monday, leading to a search by deputies, firefighters, a DPS helicopter and civilian volunteers; but proved unsuccessful. The search was stopped just before 8 a.m. Tuesday and a Region 1 Alert was issued. Porter was found a short time later.
