COMMERCE - Texas A&M University-Commerce students returning to campus next week for the spring semester will notice yet another transformation, as the former Music Building has been torn down.
University records show that the building was constructed in 1957. Demolition began over Christmas break.
In 2010, students and faculty moved into the new Music Building on the north side of University Drive, just south of Memorial Stadium. The $30 million structure is equipped with two tunable performing venues, a 500-seat concert hall and 75-seat recital hall. A Grand Opening for the new facility was held last summer.
