More money for Commerce ISD

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – The Commerce ISD got some good financial news in special session Monday night. An increase in the Certified Appraisal Roll means an additional $133,000 for the district. The additional money will help provide for instructional upgrades and for staff and equipment for grounds keeping-which has previously been contracted out by the district.

The district had also previously dipped into fund balance to give all staff and teachers raises, and the extra money will significantly off-set those costs.

All teaching positions have been filled for the district. A total of 37 new teachers and administrators will begin work August 14th.
