More steps taken toward Greenville power plant

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – The GEUS Board, the Greenville Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) and the City Council each met Tuesday and voted separately. The agreements will help paved the way for the estimated $100 million facility.

Meetings will continue for the next few months to line up air permits and financing for the plant.

Construction of Lufkin-based Greenville Energy LLC could employ up to 200 workers. It would take approximately 15 months to build. Once complete, the facility would employ approximately 56 workers.
