Mosquito spraying in Commerce begins June 20th

Commerce – The City of Commerce will be spraying for mosquitoes once again this year. City-wide spraying will begin June 20th, and be conducted the 3rd week of each month thereafter. Spraying is more effective during peak mosquito-biting times, so crews will begin spraying around 8:30pm.
Four sections have been marked for Commerce, and a different section will be covered each day, weather permitting, starting on Monday of the 3rd week of each month. In the event of rain, spraying will commence the next clear day.
The chemicals used are of low toxicity to people and pets, but direct contact should be avoided. Citizens are urged to go inside or stay away from the trucks during spraying. The chemicals are also extremely toxic to fish and any fish ponds should be covered when spraying is in your area.
