Mt. Pleasant – An officer with the Mt Pleasant Police Department for five years was arrested Friday morning. Joshua Hatfield was Mt Pleasant's K-9 officer and worked on drug interdiction. Assistant U.S. Attorney Alan Jackson, of Tyler told the Mt Pleasant Daily Tribune that Hatfield was charged with selling a firearm to a person under indictment for a felony. There was another charge of selling a firearm to an unlawful alien in the U.S. illegally.
If convicted Hatfield faces up to ten years and up to a quarter million dollar fine.
Allegedly the transactions were while Hatfield was off duty.
