By Scott Harvey

Commerce – Commerce Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for the sale of items recently stolen from a home and church.

On February 1, an antique Smith & Wesson .38 caliber handgun was reported missing from a residence in the 1000 block of Ashley Lane. Also taken were an antique single barrel shot gun with damage to the stock and a jewelry box containing several pieces of antique jewelry.

Among the jewelry items is a 1959 woman's class ring, 1 PEO pin with RB engraved inside, 2 sets of gold diamond earrings, 1 set of Spanish rose pattern earrings, and a 2" silver diamond chip with a web designed pin. There were also some gold and silver chains among the items taken. It is believed that the burglar took a maroon pillow case which he/she placed the items in for transport.

The second burglary occurred on February 4th at the 1st Baptist Church. The suspects in this case took 3 items and $50 in cash from the church. Among the items taken were a 52" Sanyo 1080P LCD HDTV, an Apple 15" MacBook Pro and an EIKI Digital Media Projector. These items are very identifiable and the serial numbers have been entered into our database as stolen.
