Murder suspect commits suicide

By Kevin Jefferies

Greenville – The prime suspect in the murder of a Tennessee woman, whose body was dumped near Greenville in December, has committed suicide. Authorities believe 41-year-old Dawn Janetta Carpenter was killed at her home in Tennessee by her younger brother, and the body was brought to Hunt County and dumped. She had been shot in the face with a high powered weapon.

37-year-old Lance Carpenter was the prime suspect in the case. The two lived in the same home with their mother, Pansy Sparks, who recently passed away. Carpenter was found dead in his home of self-inflicted stab wounds. No motive in the murder of his sister has been found and police are investigating whether he may have been responsible for his mother's death as well.
