Murder suspect moved from hospital to jail

Sulphur Springs Police Dept.
Tony Crayton

Murder suspect Tony Crayton was brought back to Sulphur Springs on Tuesday afternoon by Hopkins County sheriff’s deputies.

Crayton, 31, was taken to the Hopkins County Jail after he was released from Tyler's Trinity Mother Frances Hospital, the Sulphur Springs News-Telegram reported. He was treated there for injuries sustained when he leapt from the League Street overpass onto Interstate 30 on Oct. 22. The incident occurred minutes after the body of his wife, 27-year-old Jessica Tyler Crayton, was discovered in her home on Morris Drive in Sulphur Springs.

Crayton was served with an arrest warrant at the Tyler hospital Friday and was arraigned in Smith County, the News-Telegram reported. Crayton has been under police guard since being flown to Tyler last week.
