Greenville – Two area capital murder defendants are expected to appear in court this week for pretrial hearings.
Jerry Lynn Phelps is scheduled to appear in court Monday and Tracy Alphin on Tuesday. Trial for the two suspects will take place within the next few weeks.
Phelps has pleaded not guilty to the shooting death of Charlene Hoover Jones.
Alphin is one of two people charged in the shooting death of Jason Herrington of Quinlan. She's also pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutors have announced they would seek the death penalty for Phelps if he's found guilty. However, they would not seek punishment by death for Alphin.
