New charge filed in Sulphur Springs shooting hoax

By Scott Harvey

Sulphur Springs – Two new charges have been filed in connection to a recent shooting hoax in Sulphur Springs.

Robert Mitchell Alexander of Sulphur Springs earlier this week was charged with engaging in organized criminal activity. Alexander, along with his brother Josh, are said to have suffered gunshot wounds on the night of August 11 and were taken to a local hospital. Both victims reportedly told officers they were shot by a group of three masked men.

After further investigation, officers found there were no masked gunmen; but that the two men shot each other as part of a scheme for personal reasons to possibly benefit them.

The same charge is pending against Josh Alexander, who remains under medical supervision.

Two other suspects in the case, Cayla Ray and Michael Anthony Fuller, both of Sulphur Springs, have had their charges upgraded to engaging in organized criminal activity. Ray's previous charge; tampering with physical evidence, and Fuller's charge; making a false report to a police officer, are expected to be dropped.

As of Wednesday, Ray had been released from jail, while Fuller remained in custody.
