By Bill Oliver

Commerce, TX –

Wes Underwood has been promoted to principal of Commerce Middle School, after serving the past year as assistant principal. Underwood has also been an assistant principal at Commerce Elementary School and before that taught eighth grade history at the middle school, social studies in Wolfe City and English as a Second Language in Sulphur Springs. This past year, Underwood also administered the CISD's disciplinary alternative education program and implemented a new counseling program in conjunction with Texas A&M University-Commerce.

The Commerce School Board spent over two hours behind closed doors Monday night, working on the superintendent's search. There were 29 applicants, some who will be interviewed this week following recommendations made by a search committee.
