New court-at-law hears first cases

By Brad Kellar

Hunt County – Hunt County now has two working County-Court-at-Laws. Judge F. Duncan Thomas heard his first cases Monday, presiding over some mental evaluations. He is scheduled to preside over additional mental hearings and perhaps his first misdemeanor criminal cases later this week. The County Court-at-Law No. 2 was designed to help relieve the caseload of the existing County Court-at-Law, with space created out of what had been the former County Commissioners Courtroom and County Auditor's offices.
