New damage estimates released from Sunday storms

– The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF-0 passed through the area, producing winds between 80-85 mph.

As many as 500 homes across Hunt County may have received roof damaged due to hail. No injuries were reported locally.

The tornado was said to have struck the Rolling Hills addition along FM 513 south of Lone Oak, completely destroying two homes and causing moderate to major damage to eight others.

The tornado was 50 yards wide and created a path of destruction 200 yards long.

Also hit hard Sunday by a tornado was the City of Rice, southeast of Dallas. The weather service says that twister carved a seven-mile damage path 100 yards wide, destroying five homes and damaging three others and the Rice public school complex.

Minor wind damage was reported in areas of Hopkins County.
