New interstate exit boosts traffic, but speeds pose danger

GREENVILLE - Some Greenville residents voiced their objections Thursday to TxDot concerning the placement of the Highway 34/Wesley Street exit ramp off Interstate 30.

While several solutions were discussed, TxDot’s Tammy B. Simms says the ramp will remain where it is.

Shawn Dawson helped organize the protest, claiming the current alignment of exit 93 has increased traffic and the speed of that traffic, putting the lives of those living in the area at risk.

The ramp was relocated as part of the $40 million overall effort to rebuild the Wesley Street overpass across the interstate and create an underpass at the Monty Stratton Parkway and convert the service  roads through Greenville to a one-way operation.
