New location for TAMU-C student center groundbreaking

By Bill Oliver

TAMU-C – Friday's groundbreaking of the new Sam Rayburn Memorial Student Center at Texas A&M University-Commerce has moved indoors.

The groundbreaking program will take place inside the year-old Science building, across the street from the new student center. The 11 a.m. ceremony will include remarks from Congressman Ralph Hall and State Representative Dan Flynn. Performances are scheduled from the Panimation Steel Drum Band and the University Singers. Following the groundbreaking, a reception will be held in the current student center.

TAMU-C students, faculty, and staff were advised 75 parking spaces behind the Science building would be reserved for the groundbreaking beginning Friday morning at 7 and thru traffic would be blocked in front of the Science building at the corner of Stonewall and West Neal.

Everyone is invited to Friday's activities, and if you can't be there, you're invited to listen to a live broadcast of the groundbreaking program on KETR 88.9 and online at ketr.org.
