New motions filed in murder case

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – Some new motions have been filed in a Hunt County capitol murder case. The lead defense counsel for John William Trotman III filed motions Monday seeking the dismissal of an indictment against his client, preventing prosecutors from eavesdropping on his conversations with Trotman and asking for a protective order against news outlets following the case. The Hunt County District Attorney's office has announced it intends to seek the death penalty for Trotman, should Trotman be convicted of capital murder. A trial date has not been scheduled in the case, although another interim hearing has been set for March 16. Trotman remains in custody at the Hunt County Jail in lieu of $1 million bond on a charge of capital murder in connection with the November, 2007 death of Ryon Rhoden of Greenville. Trotman has pleaded not guilty.
