New residence hall at A&M-C taking shape

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – Crews are working to finish the decking on the 82,000 square foot, three-story facility before installing drywall.

Director of Facilities David McKenna says before long we'll be able to see all the details of the building come together.

The project is part of an even bigger goal of having 3,000 students living on campus within five years.

"It's a matter of getting the students on campus and then working to provide that additional or upgraded capacity in residential life," McKenna said. "Everyone is moving in that direction and I it'll take a little bit of time but I think we'll get there."

The new, 250 bed residence hall, which sits at the corner of Hwy 50 and Culver St., is scheduled for completion this summer and will house incoming freshmen in the fall.
