New rules possible regarding alcohol sales

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – There could possibly be some new rules regarding alcohol sales in Greenville. Businesses are expected to begin submitting applications to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) later this week, seeking the right to be able to sell beer and wine from store shelves and mixed beverages at restaurants without requiring a private club.

The Greenville City Council meanwhile, is considering amending a city ordinance and adding some new rules as to where those businesses which sell alcohol might be allowed to locate. The Council is scheduled to meet at 5 p.m. Monday in a special session to discuss and possibly take action on the regulations.
