New schools coming for Royse City

By Kevin Jefferies

Royse City – Royse City voters approved a $67.63 million bond election for new schools and other facilities over the weekend. The issue passed by nearly a 70 percent margin. The issue will include money for two new elementary schools, new sports facilities at the high school, renovations and additions to current buildings, and money for purchase of new lands for the district. The Royse City school board is scheduled to canvass the election today. Plans of the first elementary school will go ahead immediately with construction of the other school a year or two later.
