Greenville – A new taxing district may be established in the City of Greenville. The City Council is scheduled Tuesday to vote on hiring a firm to provide professional services related to establishing and implementing a tax reinvestment zone. Under the plan, businesses within a specific area identified for development would pay for public infrastructure improvements, such as water and sewer lines and roads. The money would come from incremental property taxes, and possibly sales taxes, resulting from development constructed within the zone.
