New trial sought after new evidence revealed

By Scott Harvey

Paris – A 2001 Paris stabbing case is being revisited after DNA tests showed blood on the murder weapon did not belong to the victim.

Paris resident Danny Holloway was sentenced to 20 years in the death of Ashley Lee, which is said to have occurred during a bar brawl.

Holloway is to appear in court in Lamar County court Thursday and will ask for a finding of innocence or a new trial. He's been in prison for nearly 8 years.

Lamar County and District Attorney Gary Young is opposing Holloway's efforts, saying he believes the 37-year-old is guilty.
