New VP for Institutional Advancement named

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – Texas A&M University-Commerce has named Mr. Randy Van Deven as the new Vice-President for Institutional Advancement.

In an email to faculty and staff Tuesday, Van Deven was said to have recently accepted the position.

He currently serves as Director of Major Gifts at Tennessee Technological University. A professional engineer, Van Deven began his career in mining prior to joining Tennessee Tech, first as Director of Development for the College of Engineering, and then moving up to his current position.

Van Deven will begin his new post in mid-July, but is expected to visit the campus before then.

Van Deven will replace former Vice President for Institutional Advancement Sylvia Kelley, who left for the same position at Southern Oregon University last year. Alumni Relations Director Derryle Peace has been serving at the position on an interim basis.

A&M-Commerce is also in the final stages of its search for its new Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, as well as working to choose a new Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
