New warrants issued for assault suspect

By Brad Kellar

Royse City – New warrants are issued for a Royse City man, charged with aggravated assault in a November 2007 shootout with officers.

41-year-old Johnny Joe Webb was indicted last month on seven counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a public servant. Webb had previously pleaded not guilty to seven counts of attempted capital murder and trial was pending in the case. Presumably, the new indictments were to replace the existing indictments.

Webb is alleged to have fired on two Royse City Police officers, as well as five sheriff's deputies; four from Rockwall County and one from Hunt County. The officers alleged Webb fired on them first.
