NHISD Board Votes To Extend Superintendent’s Contract

North Hopkins Independent School District Board of Trustees recently met for a very lengthy evening of evaluations and appreciation in January. North Hopkins ISD Superintendent Dr. Darin Jolly had his contract extended to June 2020. Board member Vicki Ferrell was also sworn into office, Jan. 26, 2017.

During a public hearing administration conveyed more information on being a District of Innovation. The forming of a committee was decided with the inclusion of the community for input.

“This is going to help with local control,” said NHISD Superintendent Jolly. “I see this as a good faith effort by the TEA.” Overseeing this process will be Rob Stanley, who is cautiously optimistic.

The Board was treated to a formal meal to which the PTO provided the funds in honor of School Board Appreciation Month.

Teachers of the Month for January were announced. North Hopkins ISD Kindergarten teacher Lorrie Farris was selected. For the High School campus, sixth grade teacher Sherrie Hocutt earned the honor.

The NHISD Board will meet again next Thursday evening, Feb. 23.
