Ninth conviction lands local man in prison

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – Wolfe City resident Rollie Wayne Joy is heading back to prison after pleading guilty to drug possession, his ninth conviction.

Under a plea bargain arraignment, Joy was sentenced Monday to eight years in prison. He was arrested in January following a traffic stop.

Four of his previous convictions dealt with possession of a controlled substance, and others for aggravated assault against a peace officer, felony driving while intoxicated, failure to render assistance and escape.
