No charges filed in Commerce kidnapping

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – Three Commerce children were returned home unharmed Thursday, after allegedly being kidnapped Wednesday by a relative.

The parents of the kids have decided not to press charges against 21-year-old Nancy Maria Leija, according to Commerce Police Chief Kerry Crews.

Leija is said to have taken the children, ranging in age from 9-12 years old, to Tyler for the night. Unconfirmed reports indicate they were taken to the home of the father of one of the children.

The incident occurred after Leija had been given consent by a parent to take the children to a store Wednesday.
