No contested council or school board seats in Commerce

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – No contested races in Commerce for the May 7th elections. Commerce City Council seats 1 and 3 were open, and Place 1 incumbent Quay Throgmorton did not run, while Hector Arce filed for the position Monday. In Place 3, Mayor Pro-Tem Penny Belcher was the only candidate to file. In Commerce School Board elections, incumbent Dick Latson withdrew his candidacy for Place 4 and Dr. Frank Ashley filed for the seat. Incumbent Willie Blow was the only person to file for Place 5.
A scaled down version of a Hunt Memorial Hospital District expansion bond package will also be on the ballot for May 7th. The issue previously failed in a county-wide election.
